A game played by village boys in the Międzyrzecz district (Podlasie); application as in the previous. The boys (usually numbering 2, less often more) decide (by “measuring” with a bat or throwing it from the foot) who will stand by the “mother.” The mother consists of a stick 1 meters 20 centimeters long, planted vertically in the ground, with its top cut evenly across. On top of it, the “daughter” is placed—a small stick 15 centimeters long, 21/a centimeters thick, whittled lengthwise into stripes on four sides. The game begins with the player standing by the mother striking the end of the daughter from above or below with the bat. The daughter arcs through the air toward the opponent, tumbling, and the opponent tries to hit it back before it falls, as close to the mother as possible. From where the rebounded daughter lands, the hitter is allowed to toss it back to the mother: if they succeed (despite the efforts of the player by the mother, who tries to hit the daughter away) within a distance no greater than the length of the stick that can fit in their throat, they take the place by the mother. If, on the contrary, the rebound yields a worse result, the distance of the daughter from the mother is measured with the bat, and each bat-length counts as 1 point against the rebounder. 100 such points decide the loss, after which the winner strikes the daughter with the bat and, from where it lands, rides on the back of the opponent to the mother.
