A game widespread throughout Poland (other names: blirki, birki, bones, hens); suitable for children in early school grades. Five pebbles the size of hazelnuts (bean seeds, shells, etc.) are placed on the palm, then tossed upward and caught on the back of the same hand, quickly turned over. In this, either the rule of catching (on the back of the hand) applies consistently until the end, or a specific number of pebbles must be caught. In the latter case, the number for the first throw is 5, for the second 4, and so on, up to 1. In both types of the game, after an unsuccessful catch (when nothing is caught, or not in pairs, or not the specified number), the pebbles pass to the next player, according to a previously established order. The player whose turn comes again begins by repeating the move that failed the previous time. After completing the described throws, various variations are also used, such as the reverse throw (from the back of the hand to the palm), and so on. The winner is the one who, in a set number of rounds, has correctly caught the most pebbles.
