Section titled “Translated text”Game marked with an asterisk in the book: more suitable for older scouts.
The exercise takes place in unfamiliar terrain. From a marked point on the terrain, one patrol sets out and, after a half-hour march, hides in the area. During the march, a route sketch 1) is made, which is then given to the second patrol. The second patrol must use this sketch to locate the first within a specified time.
The sketch is drawn without a map, and it must not include the names of any localities. During the search, it is also forbidden to use a map, ask passersby for directions, or send individual scouts to search the area. Naturally, the hideout cannot be in a deep forest. The scout holding the sketch should be careful not to reveal the direction of the hideout through the path they take.
