Section titled “Translated text”Two teams stand in rows, parallel to each other, with their backs to the patrol leader, who devises a word composed of as many letters as there are scouts in each row. On his clap, the two nearest scouts (the first in each row) turn toward him, and he signals the first letter of his word to them. They then silently move to the start of their row (farther from the patrol leader). Another clap follows—the next scouts turn around—receive the next letter, and move to the front. Once everyone has received one letter, meaning the entire word has been signaled one letter at a time to each scout, the teams gather and race to shout out the word the patrol leader signaled. The team that does so first earns a point. The game continues until 10—15 points are reached.
Complications: The word has 2 times more letters than there are boys in the team—and the queue rotates 2 times, with each scout receiving two letters, one per rotation. Alternatively, instead of signaling a single letter to each scout, the patrol leader gives them the entire word—everyone then receives a full sentence, which they must reconstruct.
