Section titled “Translated text”A double-track railway line, winding in sections, running through undulating terrain. We deploy two competing teams along the track, on both sides of it, in the ditches (do not position on the track). The distance between individual relay stations may reach up to one kilometer.
We may set up any number of stations. However, do not exceed 5 kilometers in length due to the time lost in deployment. To minimize time loss, individual stations should be positioned directly from the starting point. This will provide an opportunity to achieve a more challenging point on the map, as we may designate a culvert or a location 100 meters from a crossing, etc., as the station. Near crossings, the relay station should always be positioned so that the crossing is behind it, ensuring that traffic at the crossing does not hinder message reception. We will also introduce a punctuality exercise by designating a specific time for occupying the station. The message (content as in the title) may be transmitted via: a) foot messengers, b) whistle signaling, c) optical signaling.
Before starting the game, verify that all stations have taken their positions. The last stations send an agreed readiness signal. Once it is relayed through intermediate stations to the first stations, only then do the first stations begin simultaneous transmission of the message. Each station must have its own call signal, known to neighboring stations. The instructor, equipped with a bicycle, may check reception at individual stations while also receiving the message from the final ones.
Signaling games are excellent for night exercises in the form of light signaling. It is worthwhile to adapt one of the above games to conduct it at night using battery-powered flashlights.
Below is an example of a typical nighttime light signaling game combined with orientation exercises.
