Signal Kim's Game
Translation details

Section titled “Translated text”These games will allow youth to relax after active signaling games, while also demanding: observation skills, attention, and memory.
A signaling dictation can be conducted in two ways: a) the instructor dictates — the youth write using the appropriate alphabet, b) the instructor sends commands in the alphabet for execution — the youth carry them out quickly.
Both dictation and commands should be linked to observations made in the field, connected to facts that exist in the given terrain. Commands should have a purpose: improving skills, abilities, etc.
For the signal kim’s game, signs of the alphabet are needed: written and the given signaling alphabet, made with ink on stiff paper, each sign separately.
The kim’s game can be conducted in various ways: a) We show part of the signs of a given alphabet (10—20), instructing them to be memorized and faithfully reproduced. b) We present part of the written signs in a certain order. The players must reproduce them in the given order using the signaling alphabet signs. c) We reverse exercise b).

A variation of the ordinary signal kim’s game will be the grid signal kim’s game (see the analogous terrain recognition kim’s game on page 146). The variety of its execution is analogous to the ordinary kim’s game.
In groups that have mastered signaling, the use of the Morse or Semaphore alphabet should not be ceremonial. This skill should be applied at every step, not only in specially conducted games. A good opportunity for practicing signaling will be a secured march. Signaling between individual members of the marching column or reconnaissance patrol will diversify this march, increasing the youth’s interest. However, it is necessary to ensure that such communication is natural, related to the group’s tasks, connected to the terrain, and forces the youth to focus their attention on the surroundings. The purposefulness of signaling will increase if an enemy unit is operating in the terrain. The purposefulness and frequency of using signaling will depend on the ingenuity of the field game leader.
