Seeking the Instructor
Translation details
Model:mistral-large-2512.Translated text
Section titled “Translated text”The instructor hands sealed letters to the patrol leaders, strongly emphasizing the importance of their contents and forbidding, under loss of honor, their opening before the designated time (e.g., not until the second day in the morning at a certain hour). These letters contain a sketch of a certain part of the area and instructions according to which the patrol, together with its members, is to gather at a certain point or place where the search for the instructor’s nearby hiding spot will begin. Obviously, the boundaries of this place cannot be too narrow, or the game would end too quickly.
Each patrol should strictly follow the route marked out for it on the sketch (croquis), and although each patrol takes a different path, the length should be calculated, and the terrain difficulties taken into account, so that all patrols can arrive at the designated assembly point at precisely the same hour. A lack of punctuality among subordinates has caused the loss of many a decisive battle. (Maciejowice. Königgrätz).
The patrol that finds the instructor first wins and receives a prize or points. Each patrol searches independently and according to its own instructions. If, after half an hour from the moment all patrols have arrived, the instructor has not been found, he gives a whistle signal that the game is over.
The chosen assembly point should be a dense, undergrown forest over a large area, so that it is well-suited for hiding.
Similar orders in sealed letters teach youth to restrain their curiosity while simultaneously arousing greater engagement and interest.
