Section titled “Translated text”A game played by rural boys in the Międzyrzecz district (Podlasie region), suitable for older pupils of elementary schools, especially in rural areas. Each boy constructs his own “kolbik” (little sheaf), consisting of 5 small sticks, each 30 centimeters long, arranged in 3 tiers. The first 2 sticks lie on the ground parallel to each other, the second pair is placed crosswise on the ends of the first, and the fifth is placed on top, perpendicular to the sticks of the second tier. All kolbiki form a row, spaced 3 meters apart from one another; each is surrounded by a small trench. The boys stand at a distance of 5½ meters from their kolbik and attempt, by throwing a stick (“pałka” or bat), to knock all the sticks beyond the trench surrounding the kolbik. Whoever succeeds gains the right to ride on the back of the loser from one kolbik to another.
