Section titled “Translated text”A game from the gentry enclaves of Podlasie, suitable for older boys in elementary schools, particularly rural ones. Each player has a palant (club) of equal size; the length of ten palants marks the distance from a firmly planted post, which the boys then throw their palants at, aiming to knock it down or at least hit it. Whoever hits it earns the right to shorten the target distance by the length of one palant and throw again from that new point; whoever misses must step back as far as they overshot or fell short of the target. The one who knocks down the post wins.
¹) A similar game is described by Gołębiowski under the name “G r e l e” or “K r e l e”.
