Football in a Circle
Translation details
Model:mistral-large-2512.Translated text
Section titled “Translated text”A game suitable for higher grades of primary schools and the lowest grades of secondary schools. Equipment: a spherical leather-covered ball, with a diameter of 20 cm. Children stand in a circle, each 2—4 steps apart from one another. In the center stands a player who tries to kick the ball out of the circle, while the others attempt to prevent this by kicking as well. The player who allows the ball to pass on their right side goes to the center. (From time to time, it is good to practice the left foot by having the player who allows the ball to pass on the left side go to the center instead.) Otherwise, players are not allowed to run into the center, and may only run sideways to defend the empty space on their right (or left) side. The ball may only be touched with hands if it leaves the circle.1
- From the quoted fragment, it can be inferred that football was not unknown to our sixteenth-century ancestors. Later, however, the tradition faded, so that in this area today we must rely on foreign models.
