A game popular among urban and rural children in Poland (known here and there as “Hide-and-Seek” or “Tag-and-Hide”); suitable for children’s gardens and lower grades of elementary schools. It is a simpler variant of “Hare and Hounds,” usually played indoors. Half of the players, chosen (by drawing lots), go to hide; the other half, at the signal “go!”, rushes in from the neighboring room and searches. In Mazovia, it is also played so that one child searches while the “rest hide.” The seeker, upon finding someone, must hurry to the finish line where a stick is placed, tap it three times, and call out the name of the discovered player, who, however, may outrun them and seize the stick. In the first case, roles are switched; in the second, they are not.
