Trades (Musician)
Translation details
Model:mistral-large-2512.Translated text
Section titled “Translated text”A game from the rural children of the Ropczyce and Rzeszów districts (Lesser Poland), suitable for children’s gardens and elementary schools. The children gather around a companion chosen as the “judge.” The judge assigns each of them a trade, then begins to mimic movements typical of, for example, a blacksmith while standing opposite the shoemaker. This serves as a signal for each to engage in their own trade. If, for instance, the shoemaker makes a mistake and repeats the blacksmith’s movements, they forfeit a token. The game lasts as long as the previous one. Under the name “Musician,” Gołębiowski describes a similar game in which the judge is replaced by a conductor, and each player standing on the circle’s perimeter is assigned an instrument to play instead of a trade. Otherwise, the rules remain the same.
