Section titled “Translated text”A game for urban and rural children in Lesser Poland and Mazovia, also known among Kashubians under the name “żórawi” (cranes). Suitable for kindergartens and lower grades of primary schools. After these words, children circling in a ring choose one participant, then continue circling and singing, and so on, until all join the ring. Then they begin singing the same song with the change that instead of the words “small” and “little,” they insert “big” and “much,” and instead of “come to us,” they sing: “go away from us.” After each verse, they remove one child from the ring until it shrinks back to its original size. In Sierpc County (Mazovia), the game starts with two people joining their right (or left) hands and spinning around an axis passing through their joined hands. New participants place their right (left) hand on the joined hands of their predecessors, forming a spinning star with an increasing (and later decreasing) number of rays (like the figure called a “cross” in the mazurka).
