Section titled “Translated text”The “border” is a strip of land, approximately 300 metres long, ideally a road, wide path, or sandy strip where tracks are clearly visible. One patrol (the “border guards”) secures the border by posting sentries along the road and reinforcements further inland. These reinforcements stand roughly halfway between the “border” and the “town”; the “town” is a recognisable location marked by a tree, building, flag, or similar, about 1 kilometres from the border. The other patrol (the “smugglers”) gathers about a kilometre on the other side of the border. They cross the border in any formation, together or individually, moving toward the “town” by walking, running, or scouting pace. Only one of them is the actual smuggler, carrying tracker’s irons. The sentries must identify this smuggler by their tracks. The sentry who first spots the smuggler’s trail alerts the reinforcements and continues tracking with their help, attempting to capture the smuggler before they reach the town. Within the boundaries of the town, the smuggler is safe and wins the game.
