An element of competition between two settlements for the caught whale or seal can also be introduced. By assigning different towing destinations to the settlements and releasing them simultaneously after 2—4, we encourage speed of action and skillful towing. It is assumed that the catch can be snatched from one another. Combat is limited by the rule that only one crew member may grab the catch with their hands, while others row. Fighting with oars or engaging in brawls should not be allowed. The group that tows the most seals or other game to their harbor wins.
