Laying Out a Line
Translation details
Model:mistral-large-2512.Translated text
Section titled “Translated text”This skill is necessary when constructing a bivouac or camp and in sketching. At the point from which we wish to lay out a line, we place a staff or a person, standing ourselves facing the given direction. A second person positions themselves or a staff at any point along the correct direction. We align them precisely on the intended direction using hand signals. The direction of adjustment is indicated with the hand: left hand—adjustment is also to the left, right hand—to the right. We will use this method for: laying out straight lines between two points, marking points on a given line, indicating a certain direction in the terrain, and during cross-country marches (we then select a series of terrain features along the line of march).
