On the Path Traveled
Translation details

Section titled “Translated text”The instructor announces: “Observe everything (in the first exercises—on short segments of the path itself, later—on longer stretches and the adjacent terrain). We will see who remembers the most facts.” They themselves strive to memorize details, such as: a more precise description of a horse’s coat, the species of a tree, shrub, or flower, damage to the road, the type of small bridge, how many cows were passing. After covering the designated segment, everyone sits down and recounts what they saw. The best observers should be recognized, while also pointing out that even they missed many things. This remark will encourage broader and deeper observation in the future. Competitions can be held in groups. We make this exercise more challenging by requiring increasingly detailed observations. It is possible to introduce recording the noticed phenomena.
In the case of a patrol game—patrols submit a brief yet precise written report, prepared collectively.
